I'm doing a working holiday in New Zealand march next year and want to open a New Zealand bank account online and transfer my money over to it to save me having to take it in cash over there
Which New Zealand bank would be best to use for someone like me?
I'll be located in Auckland
Thanks

You don't need to transfer anything, you can simply access your money at home through the international online banking system. Just check with your own ban about getting an ATM card that works there.

If you are Australian, the four major Australian banks are represented in Auckland so you can use your account with no trouble.

If you are not Australian, the ANZ and the Bank of New Zealand are two of the biggest banks in the country. The ANZ operates in both Australia and New Zealand (guess what ANZ means) and the Bank of New Zealand is wholly owned by the National Australia Bank so accounts work in both countries.

Banking regulations require you to provide evidence of identity to open accounts so you might not be able to do it online. Your own bank, in whatever country you live in, can open an account for you with the ANZ or BNZ and transfer money into it so it is there when you arrive in NZ.

Unless something has changed,we DO have an ANZ bank which would serve you in both countries without changing over.Go to ANZ bank and discuss this with them.

Apply for a Monzo card... they are brilliant, you won't need to open another account anywhere you go, you don't pay any foreign transaction fees or anything and it's easy to transfer money from your main bank account onto the card, and use the card to pay for stuff in the normal way.
