I always like to check the death/suicide rate in a country when deciding where would be better.
These are about level with each other.
Denmark is an easy point to branch out if you want to visit other countries (pretty much all of northwestern Europe and Scandinavia are right there).
New Zealand...not ancient, not close to anything without a long flight or boat trip, but fabu countryside, and a ton of the world's film projects have business there...up and coming kind of thing. Peter Jackson's kid is at University in Kentucky or somewhere in the American bohunkery south...

I'd say go for Auckland.

Auckland is average, and the water is fluoridated, so you might want to avoid it. If you have any specific questions fire away.
Depends what your criteria is for "best"....
