We were gonna go out this weekend either Friday or Saturday night (in Nelson) but it's Easter this weekend, and it would be kind of awkward if everywhere was closed!!

Every bar, club and licensed restaurant are entitled to be open every day but with conditions that vary each day. However it would be wise to check first with any premises you intend going to as some may elect to remain closed on certain days. This would be more likely on Good Friday. Also as Good Friday and Easter Monday (Anzac Day) are public holidays you may be asked to pay a surcharge on purchases.
Regulation sets the following conditions on premises that open -
Good Friday - can open but only serve alcohol to patrons who are there for the 'purpose of dining'.
Easter Saturday - as per any Saturday.
Easter Sunday - same conditions as Good Friday.
Easter Monday (Anzac Day) - Anzac Day takes precedence here - all premises to remain closed till 1p.m. and then open as per normal.

Nothing is open on Good Friday It's just like Xmas days. Saturday should be back to normal

Probably in somewhere like Nelson, bars and restaurants are open but there will be a holiday surcharge added to your bill. You can still go out it just costs you more !!! Have fun !!

Maybe friday they might be shut but satuarday they will be open. only good friday they have to 'officially' close
