G'day,

Actually, one of the best travelogues on NZ would be The Lord of the Rings. Get her the extended version of the film. There are some awesome shots of the country.

The appendices also have some neat shots of the country.

I went on a Tour of Middle-earth in '04 and led a similar one in '06. Many of us are planning on returning in '11 for the premiere of The Hobbit. Come with! http://www.pacificpathways.com/

Where are you from?

A NZ Christmas in the north island is dominated by a backdrop of the Pohutukawa tree (also known as the NZ Christmas tree). It wouldn't be Christmas, if it wasn't heralded by the scarlet red blossoms of the NZ Christmas tree everywhere you turn. Botanic name Metrosideros excelsa.

You could make a fake beach with backdrop of pohutukawa and bright lights. Put on your 'togs', your best rubber 'jandals' and fire up a BBQ with steaks and lamb chops and lots of tomato sauce.

Eat some strawberries and say things like "Jeeez Wayne, ya girl's blouse, whad are you drinking that yank Budweiser shite for. If you want to get on the piss like a real bloke, grab a tin outta the chilly bin."

It probably depends on whether she is an outdoor girl and what activities she enjoys. A DVD would then bring her some lovely shots. If she is into cooking The "Hunger For the Wild Series" is a wonderful look at remote and beautiful parts of New Zealand, as the chefs gather their food fresh, plus the cooking lessons from a couple of New Zealand's well known chefs. There are 2 DVD's and a book.It is a very popular TV series here in New Zealand.

There are so many amazing sights in New Zealand anything that has nice scenic shots will be sure to please.

Merry Christmas

When i vacationed there i liked Queenstown and the scenery around it pull the Franz Joesph Glacier on the west side. They are both on the south island.Wait for when they are running special discounts to New Zealand.

Anything that shows the South Island. If your able, then go down there with a video camera, particually Queenstown and Wanaka where the scenic view is to die for!!! Or on a sunny day head over to West Auckland where the top Surf beaches are, Bethells Beach or Muriwai (spelling??) Pick something that she likes herself and get the best of it from here. If you can then I would advise taking a video camera with you for a couple days, do a mini holiday of the places around you, there is always something beautiful and send it back to her, keep the camera on while you drive for a bit and show that where ever you are in NZ, it doesn't take long to get somewhere where it's worth a picture.

My fave would have to be the glaciers - Franz Josef in particular. That is just amazing. However make sure you keep an eye on grabaseat.co.nz as they have super cheap deals to all over NZ. My bro just gt a flight from Oz to NZ for $50! Worth a look :)
